Mazda is giving away a brand new 2011 Mazda2 valued at $15,000 on Foursquare in the largest single prize yet on the geo-social platform. The "Inner Driver Challenge" campaign will feature soul singer Mayer Hawthorne’s tour locations and end Dec. 7.
Each year, Car and Driver Magazine awards their 10Best list of vehicles on the market. Of course they need to drive everything that is new on the market as well as the previous year’s 10Best cars. The following is an entry from their drivers blog on this year’s test…
The 2010 Mayer Hawthorne MAZDA2 Concert started last weekend at Culture Club in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
VIP Sweepstakes winners got the opportunity to meet Mayer before the show as well as to see the all-new Mazda2 up close. Pictures of the event provided by SPIN.com after the break.
Why go to a Mayer Hawthorne show? Is “great music” a good enough answer? The debut album from Mayer Hawthorne and The County, A Strange Arrangement, was one of the most highly acclaimed releases of 2009.
John Mayer called it “record of the year,” and we assume that’s not just because they share a name. Spin Magazine called Mayer’s performance at the Outside Lands Festival one of the top performances this year.
But there’s more than that.
Mayer (Hawthorne, not John) exudes confidence and enthusiasm without being forced or phony. His sound is organic, like the classic soul of the early Motown days, updated for modern ears. And he presents himself the same way, never trying to be something he’s not, or turning up the “swag” for the cameras.
The tour will visit 32 cities in October and November. Possibly yours. Mayer is accompanied on the road by The County, a full backing band that tactfully fleshes out Mayer’s compositions in person. Mayer Hawthorne & The County are joined by The Heavy who will co-headline 9 of the show dates (see tour dates for details).
Fans will have the opportunity to win tickets to meet & greet events via an online sweepstakes, and will be treated to exciting ways to share the tour experience with friends.
This blog will provide an up-close look at tour life, with posts from behind-the-scenes, downloadable content, and more. Stay tuned!

You would think that guys who review and write about high-performance cars would look down their collective noses at the 100hp Mazda2—Not So! As we welcome the Mazda2 to our lot here at Browns Chantilly Mazda, the editors at AutoWeek exchange their usual rides for the 2011 Mazda2. Read on to see what they think of our latest addition.
The all-new 2011 Mazda2 was given the first workout by the guys over at Consumer Reports. From their initial impressions, we can definitely see that they like the car!
Likes included the power from the 100hp engine, the packaging including interior cargo room, and the standard features like power windows, keyless entry, AM/FM/CD player with MP3 capability, and the price!
Of course, the dislikes were limited to things that are inherent in a subcompact car: interior road noise and backseat room. Take a look at the video after the break…
Brown’s Chantilly Mazda is pleased to announce the arrival of the all-new 2011 Mazda2! Come and see us in the Chantilly Auto Park to see the cars and take a test drive!
The first week of August kicks off the biggest new car launch for Mazda in recent times: the 2011 Mazda2. To celebrate the arrival of our new sub-compact Mazda we will have a week of postings on the Mazda2.
Today, in addition to a list of the Mazda2’s we are expecting to arrive any day, we have pictures and our favorite review from Autoblog!
The 2011 Mazda2 arrives here in Chantilly, VA at the end of this month. We thought we would go ahead and whet your appetite for the all new Mazda with a first-drive review. Be sure to read the entire review, because they put all the negatives up front and all the accolades at the end…
And that’s exactly why the Mazda2 is such a brilliant car. Unlike the premium-positioned Fiesta or MINI, or the purely economy-class Versa, Fit and Yaris, the Mazda2 strikes a balance between them while offering what only the MINI really does as well: genuine hatchback fun.
